Devices & automatic connection

Choose the phone and connection you want to use.

First launch and Welcome

  1. Review the Welcome pages for mirroring, USB, Wi-Fi and optional control.
  2. Use Previous, Next, the page dots, or swipe left and right to navigate.
  3. Choose Done, got it on the last page, then select your connection in Devices.

The guide explains features; completing it does not grant permissions, pair a phone or install developer services. Follow the separate connection guide next.

The Devices screen

Devices lists available USB phones and previously paired Wi-Fi phones. A connection icon and suffix distinguish USB from Wi-Fi. Choose the row for the connection you want. Previously paired Wi-Fi entries are remembered devices; their presence is not a live availability check.

  1. Choose an available USB iPhone to start USB mirroring.
  2. Choose a paired Wi-Fi row to begin connecting over the network.
  3. Use Add a connection for separate USB or Wi-Fi setup.
  4. Use Connection settings for requirements, controls and troubleshooting.

Your saved preference

Glint remembers your chosen phone and transport and starts that connection when it becomes available. You should not need a second confirmation just to start an already prepared connection. Trust, permissions and network authentication must still succeed.

Understand the connection state

  • Previously paired: remembered on this Mac; the phone may be offline.
  • Connecting / waiting for live video: a fresh picture has not arrived yet. Keep the phone awake and unlocked.
  • Restoring: Glint is trying to recover interrupted Wi-Fi video. Unlock the phone and check network reachability.
  • Live picture: verify that frames change when you move on the phone. Input readiness is a separate check.
Check the result, not only the badge

In Set up this Mac, a ready prerequisite does not prove that live video or physical input works. Resolve items marked action needed, run checks for items not yet checked, then verify the result on the phone.

Stop, cancel and switch

Stop ends mirroring; Cancel connection ends a pending attempt. Select a different connection from Devices when you want to switch. Automatic reconnection does not grant permissions or unlock the physical phone.
